Korgfjellet Fjellstue is a family business with roots dating back to 1972, when the Molden family opened the doors for the first time. Today, the place is run by the next generation – still with the same warm and informal atmosphere. We are located at the top of Korgfjellet, 555 meters above sea level, with views of the majestic Okstindan massif and Northern Norway’s highest mountain, Oksskolten (1,917 m). Fjellstua is the only place along the road where you can see the entire mountain range – a spectacular experience for both passers-by and hikers.
Food, accommodation and mountain fun
We serve homemade home cooking based on old family recipes, and we bake both bread and pizza in a wood-fired stone oven. The local specialty Kamkake, and our warm apple cake with soft ice cream, have become regulars among our guests.
We offer accommodation in Fjellstua, which has five rooms with a total of 13 beds, as well as in modern “Lodge” cabins from 2020 – with a high standard, two bedrooms, bathroom, kitchen, living room and private terrace with panoramic views. The Fjellstua also has a restaurant with seating for 130 guests, a small pub and conference rooms.
Hiking terrain and activities all year round
A varied hiking terrain awaits just outside the door – in summer and winter. Here you’ll find marked trails, small works of art in nature and 360-degree views from Svalvasshaugen.
In winter, the area offers some of Helgeland’s best skiing opportunities, and after the trip you can take a dip in the mountain water and warm up in the sauna. Korgfjellveien is also part of the historic “Blood Road”, built during World War II by prisoners of war. As many as 640 Yugoslavian prisoners lost their lives here between 1942 and 1944. Outside the Fjellstua is a memorial that reminds us of this dark chapter in history.
More than just a road
Take the trip over the mountain instead of driving through the dark Korgfjelltunnel. You can find us via the E6 – either from Knutlia in the south or Korgen in the north. The road over the mountain is open during the summer months and offers a driving experience with views you won’t soon forget.
Welcome to Korgfjellet Fjellstue – high mountains and warmth since 1972!
